(KOLD News 13) - If you’ve driven on State Route 189, you know how busy it is. However, did you know it’s a vital spot for Arizona’s economy and bringing business into this country? According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, more than 1,000 trucks drive that road each and every day. To alleviate both the traffic and safety concerns this has brought with it, ADOT is building two ramps connecting SR 189 with Interstate 19. ....
Pedestrians entering the country through the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry were greeted by a new piece of street art in August as they walked onto the first block of Terrace Avenue: Big, bold white letters reading âNogalesâ painted over a vividly colord background of thin horizontal lines on a brick wall. âBasically, we wanted the word âNogalesâ because itâs the port, so we wanted a type of welcome, like a postcard,â said Priscilla Nefftys, one of the artists behind the mural, part of a bigger project called âNogalerÃaâ or âNogallery,â which encompasses the cultural identity and history of Ambos Nogales. Nefftys, Gerardo Frias and Tony Plak launched the effort with a grant from the University of Arizona Confluence Center for Creative Inquiry. ....

A local medical office officially changed hands late last month, as Mariposa Community Health Center took over operations at the former Carondelet Medical Group on Target Range Road, completing a deal that was first announced in August.
