The immigrants fled malnutrition, poverty, extreme conditions and a tense security situation in Ethiopia–aggravated by the coronavirus pandemic–to fulfill a 2,000-year-old old dream of arriving to the land of Israel and to Jerusalem. The flights, coordinated by the Jewish Agency for Israel, Israel’s Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, and Israel’s Ministry of Interior, followed the Government of Israel’s decision in October to approve the immigration of 2,000 members of the Ethiopian community, many of whom were left behind after “Operation Solomon” and have been waiting for decades to move to Israel and reunite with their families. ....
