Image Source: IANS News Chandigarh, May 10 : As part of the continued fight against the spike in Covid-19 cases, the Western Command on Monday dedicated three Covid hospitals to the nation under the Indian Army initiative Operation Namaste . Lt Gen R.P. Singh, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Command, announced the operationalisation of first Western Command 100-bed hospital in coordination with the Chandigarh administration at International Students Hostel of Panjab University in Sector 25 here in presence of UT Administrator V.P. Western Command dedicates three COVID care hospitals to the nation ANI | Updated: May 11, 2021 03:02 IST New Delhi [India], May 10 (ANI): Lieutenant General RP Singh, Army Commander Western Command on Monday announced operationalising of three COVID-19 hospitals, one each in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, as part of the fight against the unprecedented rise in coronavirus cases in the second wave of pandemic. He dedicated the hospitals to the two states and Chandigarh administration and made a special mention that these hospitals have been set up on a war-footing in coordination with the respective civil administrations. The Western Command COVID-29 hospitals have been operationalised at International Students Hostel of Panjab University, Chandigarh, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hospital, Faridabad and Rajindra Government Hospital, Patiala. ....

Hammerstrom Jr., 84, of Marquette, died on Tuesday morning, April 20, 2021, surrounded by his family and under the care of Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice at the Trillium Hospice House. Carl was born April 23, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, a son of Carl F. and Mary (Metcalf) Hammerstrom, Sr. He graduated from the Phillips Exeter Academy in 1954, Harvard University in 1958 and Johns Hopkins Medical School in 1962. He was drafted in December of 1967 and served his country as an Army Medical Officer with the US Army Fifth General Hospital, Bad Cannstatt Germany FROG from 1968-1971. ....
