Daily Times July 25, 2021 According to a press report, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is looking forward to continuing discussions with the Pakistani authorities on the set of policies and reforms that could form the basis for completion of the sixth review under the $6-billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF). This was stated by the IMF resident representative, Ms. Teresa Dabán Sanchez in response to a query by an English daily. She further stated that “we welcome the strong and constructive engagement with the Pakistani authorities and we stand ready to continue supporting Pakistan to achieve the objectives of debt sustainability and strong and sustainable growth, through the implementation of the policies, structural reforms and social spending enhancement envisaged in the EFF-supporting program.” ....
ECP reviews LB polls’ preparations June 11, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Thursday reviewed preparations for the local bodies’ elections in the provinces, Islamabad and cantonment boards and noted that the provincial governments still needed months for the purpose, citing various reasons. In this connection, an important meeting of the Commission was held here at the Election Commission Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja. Minister for Local Government Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, secretaries Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Election Commission, four provincial election commissioners, secretary Local Government Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Federal Ministry of Home Affairs and relevant officials of the Department of Military Lands and Cantonments attended the meeting. ....
Havengore Bridge is another area which can be closed when activities are taking place on the range. The outer sea area around the bridge is only open when the range is not in use and several hours each side of high tide. Authorities are reminding people of the dangers of trespassing on land owned by the Ministry of Defence. Parts of the shoreline in Shoebury are closed off to members of the public – meaning only those given a license by the MOD are permitted to use it. But trespassers who go on the land are not only at risk of breaking the law, but also of sustaining serious injury.
