Early last week Smart Communications in the Philippines released its long-awaited “Live Your Passion with Purpose” campaign via Dentsu Jayme Syfu headlined by the world’s leading pop icon, BTS.
The epic campaign established Smart Communications in advertising history as the first and only Philippines company to ever seal a direct partnership with BTS under HYBE, formerly Big Hit Entertainment.
Shot in Seoul at the height of the global lockdown, the campaign has the seven BTS members on different versions of The Penrose Stairs, symbolic of defying impossible situations. It is set to two of the band’s most recent hits, Life Goes On followed by the record-breaking hit Dynamite, appropriately providing the score to a timely and encouraging message to Filipino ARMY during the Philippines’ most challenging time.

Photocards featuring NCT 127. K-pop fans are keeping the spirit of buying, selling and trading cards alive with pint-sized photos of K-pop stars they can put in their wallets.

Band tees are passé in the world of K-pop, where merchandising is done on a whole other level. One particularly popular type of merch? Wallet-sized photocards, which are making a killing among K-pop fans.
The latest trend in trading cards are pint-sized photos of K-pop stars that are usually found in albums or come as bonuses in merchandise packaging.
With multiple variants of the same album, there are often hundreds of photocards associated with a single music release, which fans often organise in dedicated binders, store in their phones or put on display.
The stretch of shophouses along Tanjong Pagar Road is where K-food lovers head to satisfy their Korean BBQ cravings. And the one restaurant that is always popular with long queue is O.BBa BBQ (at 63 Tanjong Pagar Road).
Only walk-ins are allowed with no reservation, which means that some customers do come slightly before the restaurant’s opening hour to better secure a seat.
HOWEVER, not many people know O.BBa BBQ has expanded with another outlet, a few shops away at Unit 59.
This branch is a two-in-one concept – with both BBQ and Jjajang offerings in a single restaurant.
Just a few minutes’ walk away from Tanjong Pagar MRT Station, this is is O.BBa’s 4th outlet (The other two are O.BBa Jjajang at 77 Tanjong Pagar and O.BBa Jjajang & BBQ at 19 Cheong Chin Nam Road).

This is closely related to its origins. The words
“gun budae” often refers to military camps in Korea.
After the Korean war, food was extremely scare and surplus processed foods from the US military bases became useful for the Korean. Surplus foods such as processed meat products from army bases, are used by people to create thick
jjigae (stews).
Thus, the name “Army Stew”.
To me, the main differentiating factor between competing restaurants is always in its base, that it has a balanced mix of spiciness, saltiness and slight sweetness (from the tomato baked beans), with the density not overly gravy-thick, or soup-like thin.
