Ms Natacha Alexander has been appointed as the next UK Permanent Representative to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris in succession to Mr Chris Sharrock. Ms Alexander will hold the personal rank of Ambassador and is due to take up her appointment during June 2021.

The Development and Humanitarian Programme Manager (DH PM) has responsibility for the management of Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) programme activities related to all DHC programmes and projects in Iraq (Protection, Women Empowerment, Democracy and Human Rights and Relief). The DH PM is formally responsible to, and reports to, Country Director for Iraq/Syria, based in Erbil, but reports thematically also to NPA Development and Humanitarian Cooperation (DHC) at Head Office in Oslo.
The planning and implementation of the programme is carried out in close collaboration with the NPA Iraq Management Team and under the overall auspices of the Country Director for NPA Iraq/Syria, based in Iraq. ....

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) welcomes an additional contribution of USD 3.5 million from the Government of Japan to support peacebuilding in Iraq through rehabilitation or reconstruction of houses damaged or destroyed by the conflict, rehabilitation of water, sanitation and hygiene facilities, and provision of vocational training and cash-for-work opportunities to unemployed young men and women in conflict-affected areas and facilitation of their employment and livelihood rebuilding. Baghdad, 04 March 2021 – The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) in Iraq welcomes an additional contribution of EUR 505,000 (approximately USD 617,000) from the Government of France renewing its commitment in supporting the Government of Iraq to protect the populations threatened by the deadly explosive ordnance left behind by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
For the third consecutive year, the Government of France, through its generous contribution to UNMAS in Iraq, will support stabilization and humanitarian efforts through the clearance of improvised explosive devices and explosive remnants of war that threaten the lives of communities in Ninewa province, and impede the safe return of internally displaced persons. ....
