True West Magazine
A Vision Realized on the 145th Anniversary of the Battle
The Indian Memorial at Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument in Montana was created to honor and recognize those American Indians who died to preserve their traditional way of life at the 1876 battle, as well as to provide a better understanding of the causes and consequences of what is popularly known as “Custer’s Last Stand.”
The Little Bighorn Battlefield Indian Memorial was dedicated on June 25, 2003, and rededicated on June 25, 2014, with the addition of interpretive panels representing all Native tribal combatants and scouts that participated in the June 25-26, 1876 battle. NPS.gov ....

Hawken customers included mountain men Kit Carson, Jim Bridger, Mariano Modena and Jedediah Smith, among others.

Rather, a number of different guns were significant in settling our western territories. ....

Spoilers from thirty-six to thirty-seven years ago
I’ve never read any of the original Vigilante series, but I’ve always liked the covers.  I’ve always dismissed this character as a knockoff of Marvel’s Punisher, although with an arguably better (and also more identifiably 80s) costume.  I remember being intrigued when he was replaced with a female version somewhere towards the end of the first volume, but then I never read those comics either. ....

However, Bismarck was as far as the trains would go for the next six years. The reasons given for that are largely the obstacle of building a bridge across the Missouri River and the financial collapse of the railroad, which triggered the national Panic of 1873. ....
