Joe Biden’s Secretary of State nominee Antony Blinkenmade waves in late November with a powerful account of his stepfather’s rescue from a Nazi concentration camp at the hands of a U.S. tank battalion, but the full story paints a more complex picture of entangled postwar commitments.

Kaja and journalist husband Tomasz Grzywaczewski from Łódź, travelled over 5,500 km around Poland, Germany, Czechia, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia and Lithuania on the trail of Poland’s interwar eastern and western borders. ....
