Critically-endangered ray released by angler after being caught at Bedok jetty


Anglers in Singapore are encouraged to practise catch-and-release while they enjoy fishing as a hobby in nature spaces.
One angler caught a critically-endangered shovelnose ray at Bedok Jetty and made the right call to promptly set it free.

When held upright, the ray with a distinct triangular head was longer than the man s body.

With the help of a fellow angler, the man was able to lift and hoist the fish over the metal rails, while several voices could be heard offscreen saying catch and release . ....

SINGAPORE: A 38-year-old German man was stung by a stingray at Sentosa s Tanjong Beach on Mar 28, one of two beach-goers stung in separate incidents that day. 
In a post on Nature Society (Singapore)’s Facebook page on Saturday (Apr 3), Mr Benjamin Koellmann said he was playing in the water with his wife and young sons when he was stung at around 6pm.  ....

Man stung by stingray at Tanjong Beach urges public to be careful


 
Many Singapore residents will probably head to the beach to relax over the weekends, but look out for marine creatures.
A visitor to Sentosa shared his encounter with a stingray at Tanjong Beach, and cautioned beach goers to be careful.

The man wrote on the Nature Society (Singapore) Facebook group on Apr. 3 that he accidentally stepped on a stingray when he was about to leave the water last Sunday.
That s when he was stung.
He later revealed in the comment section that the incident happened at around 60-80cm depth of water, and about 2m away from the shore. ....
