The Yale community and friends and family of first-year Rachael Shaw-Rosenbaum ’24 mourned her death by suicide in March. Shaw-Rosenbaum, a student in Branford College from Anchorage, Alaska, was remembered for her passion for justice: she was an ardent debater who wanted to study constitutional law and eventually end up on the Supreme Court.
At Yale, where she was in the Directed Studies program, she had already made an impression. “Yale has no shortage of intelligence, but Rachael was genuinely the most brilliant person I’ve ever met,” classmate Victoria Chung ’24 told the

When he first visited the newly refurbished Humanities Quadrangle at 320 York St. known until recently as the Hall of Graduate Studies faculty member Kevin van Bladel’s thoughts returned to his days as a Yale graduate student more than two decades ago.
He recalled the camaraderie with fellow students from various fields, their intense intellectual discussions, and the hours upon hours of writing and reading he did within the walls of the iconic building, where he had also lived during his first three years of graduate school.

Helen Tung LLB (Hons) is a UK trained Barrister with 12 years of Post qualification experience. Helen attended University of Sheffield, University of Tilburg and University of Law in which she obtained her law degrees. Helen furthered her studies at the University of Greenwich for PhD studies (completed coursework only) in maritime security and international law and undertook Directed Studies on International Private Law at The Hague Academy. She further took part in the Global Solutions Program at Singularity University and attending the International Space University Summer Space Program.
