Cable Ties released their second LP
Far Enough, an album that brings a towering wall of 70s hard rock and proto-rock to songs that explore hope, despair, and anger but offer no easy answers. Taking the three-minute punk burner and stretching it past breaking point, the trio of Jenny McKechnie (guitar, vocals), Shauna Boyle (drums), and Nick Brown (bass) deliver feminist anthems that are at once smouldering and urgent.

Cable Ties’ songwriting and the honesty in their live performance, qualities that shine through on the two live sessions that they have recorded at PBS over the years. Both sessions were auspicious occasions. The first was recorded on International Women’s Day in 2016, and the second on Drive Live in 2018. David Heard of Acid Country

This announcer spotlight was written by Michelle Gearon and first published in our biannual member magazine, Easey Mag, May 2020 edition. We hope you enjoy reading this insight into story of Acid Country announcer, David Heard.

David Heard remembers sitting on a train between Geelong and Melbourne in 1978 reading an article in the Green Guide about a group of people who were “plotting a revolution” for the airwaves of Melbourne. The new station would be unique, innovative, and would focus on music that did not receive airplay on commercial stations. An avid music lover, David decided to attend a meeting at the Prince of Wales Hotel, St Kilda, to find out more about this bunch of radio revolutionaries. Over 40 years later, the Acid Country presenter is still a dedicated volunteer. ....

Coda Chroma, performs songs that are drawn from personal dreamscapes and real-life encounters, delivering poetic honesty, with a nostalgia for the unknown.
And that’s excatly how Kate Lucas does things, she recalls how she felt on the day of the performance:
I felt very nervous to perform that day - we had a brand-new drummer who was learning the parts up to the day of the set (mind you she played brilliantly and really nailed it), so my brain was being a pain and overthinking things. But the main thoughts for the day I had were on how supported I feel by peebs and how lucky Melbourne is to have such an incredible community broadcaster! ....
