Searching for EVOO on Amazon is a great way to find extra virgin olive oil unless, of course, what you’re looking for is a laptop. The same term under electronics reveals plenty under the EVOO brand. EVOO will be a familiar name to bargain hunters who have hunted online, of late, for low-cost laptops and Android tablets, and its LP-7 gaming laptop ($1,199 as tested, available through Amazon and Walmart) teams an eight-core AMD Ryzen processor with Nvidia GeForce RTX-class graphics for smooth frame rates on its 15.6-inch 120Hz screen.
The LP-7 is an able performer, though its attractive pricing for those internal components means settling for an all-plastic design and noisy fans. We first reviewed the Acer Predator Helios 700 gaming laptop at its debut in 2019, and this latest model (starts at $2,399.99; $3,499.99 as tested) brings new components to the 17.3-inch beast. The Helios 700 s calling card remains the sliding HyperDrift keyboard, which extends down off the laptop s deck toward the user to create an angled typing surface. Doing so also opens up additional fans previously hidden beneath the keyboard, boosting performance by unlocking CPU and GPU overclock modes. Our pricey test unit flaunts an Intel Core i9 processor, 32GB of RAM, 2TB of storage, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super GPU that, when pushed with overclocks, can even beat RTX 3080 competitors.

Popular gaming laptops have gotten thinner and lighter in recent years, but there s still something to be said for big-screen, big-bore power. The MSI GE76 Raider (starts at $1,499) is certainly large and in charge, a 17.3-inch system packing a blazing Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ampere GPU in our $2,899 review configuration. For that price, this model is loaded with deluxe options including a 300Hz display, 32GB of memory, and a 1TB solid-state drive. While super-fast, the Raider doesn t blow away the more compact, RTX 3070-equipped Alienware m15 R4, or outrun more portable (and more attractive) 17-inch options. Still, if you like its design, demand a display larger than 15.6 inches, and want a rig that can go toe to toe with just about anybody s, the GE76 Raider has the performance and feature chops to satisfy.
