47abc May 7, 2021 SALISBURY, Md. – Maryland State Police have announced funeral details for fallen Delmar Police Corporal Keith Heacook. Services are scheduled for Monday, May 10th, at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Salisbury. The public viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., with services beginning around 12:20 p.m. The service is expected to last roughly one hour. Attendees are asked to adhere to COVID-19 protocols. The church will provide a live stream of the event on Youtube, as well as Cpl. Heacook’s tribute page. Pandemic-EBT providing Marylanders with food security February 12, 2021 MARYLAND – The Maryland Department of Human Services and the Maryland State Department of Education received approval from the USDA to operate a Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer Program. State officials say about 467,000 children in Maryland will benefit from it. These benefits called P-EBT will help families in Maryland purchase food while schools are closed due to COVID-19. Compared to regular EBT cards where you usually have to apply for, some families will automatically qualify. Mark Thompson with Emmanuel Wesleyan says, “People still need a lot of food so they’re still managing, do they pay their bills or do they buy food.” The P-EBT gives families an opportunity to purchase groceries. MARYLAND – No matter if you’re a family with school children, an adult who may have lost your job, or a senior, you can rest assured free food is available this holiday season. That’s thanks to local and state organizations who are working to make sure people don’t go hungry over the holidays. “No one should be hungry during this time of our schools closing,” said Mark Thompson with Emmanuel Wesleyan Church. Thompson says right now the church is busy with multiple efforts to get food distributed. That includes food delivery on Fridays, and a program where people can pick up food for their friends or loved ones who may not be comfortable doing so. “The face of need has changed. It’s not just the homeless person. These are working people that have either lost their jobs or had their hours cut back,” said Thompson. ....
