Osinbajo Lists FG s Achievements in Infrastructure Development

Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has enumerated the achievements of this administration in infrastructure development. He stressed that the infrastructure development were part of the efforts to lift 100 million Nigerians from poverty. Osinbajo, who was represented by the Minister of State for Works and Housing, Mr. Abubakar Aliyu, spoke while delivering his keynote address at the Annual Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), which took place in Abuja. According to him, some of the infrastructure included the commencement of the 156Km Lagos Ibadan rail service and the completion and commissioning of 327 km Itakpe–Warri Standard Gauge Rail after 33 years of abandonment by previous administrations.

NIESV Decries High Cost of Building Materials

By Adibe Emenyonu The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) has called on the federal government to pay attention to the high cost of building materials, if it truly desires to provide affordable housing for the low and medium income earners, the less privileged and vulnerable people of Nigeria. The institution also noted that no single cause can be identified to explain Nigeria’s poor economic performance over the years than the power situation, pointing out that “it is a national shame that an economy of about 180 million has about 12,500MWT of installed capacity as at today, with about 3,000 to 5,000MWT being transmitted to the final consumers when South Africa with a population of about 58 million generates about 59,000MWT shows that we have a long way to go.”
