MUMBAI: The finance ministry has again written to state governments asking them to put in place a dispensation for vaccinating bank and other financial sector employees. It has also asked the states to protect financial sector employees after incidents of bank staff being manhandles by police enforcing a lockdown came to light.
Debasish Panda, secretary in the department of financial services at the finance ministry, said in a letter to all states’ chief secretaries that the home ministry has categorised the banking industry as a provider of essential services. Since bank employees have to necessarily commute from their homes to offices, and offices must remain physically open, the chief secretaries have been asked to communicate to all district magis ....

Covid-19: Mangaluru: These volunteers from Youth Red Cross call at least 100 patients every day | Mangaluru News

At least five volunteers from the Youth Red Cross, including four students, are making nearly 100 calls every day.
MANGALURU: With Dakshina Kannada reporting an average of 500 cases every day, the Covid war room at the Mangaluru City Corporation building is buzzing with activity.
At least five volunteers from the Youth Red Cross, including four students, are making nearly 100 calls every day, collecting patient details, noting down symptoms and at times even breaking the news that a person is Covid positive.
Kadija Hiba, an IBA student, from the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, told TOI, “I have come to realise how hard the health department officials are working. It is easy to sit in our comfort zone and blame the frontline workers. This job demands that we remain calm and convince the patients not to panic. Some of the calls really shook me. A father of a 17-year-old boy being treated in the ICU is praying hard for his son’s recovery. On Sunday, when I cal ....

How has Covd-19 affected independent brewers?

But take a look a little deeper and the picture is very different.
Breweries will not be “back to normal” for many months, perhaps years to come.
Four weeks ago, pubs in England were allowed to serve customers for the first time in 114 days.
Two weeks ago, Welsh and Scottish patrons got their first taste of a proper pint and Northern Ireland followed last Friday.
For many millions of people across the UK, this has been the boost that we have all desperately been waiting for. We were able to see friends, family and loved ones. We were once again able to ‘put the world to rights’ over foaming glasses of local beer.  ....

7N Architects Selected by Network Rail and RIBA to Shape Britain's Future Railways

Copy
RIBA and Network Rail recently announced the winner of the Re-imagining Railways design competition, which invited architects, engineers and designers to rethink small and medium-sized train stations to improve the travel experience. The winning design, signed by Edinburgh-based architectural practice 7N Architects, features a reinterpreted clock tower serving as a local landmark and a modular station layout that can be adapted to a variety of sites.
7N Architects’design proposes a flexible system with a minimum of parts, which can be integrated across urban and rural landscapes. The platform canopies feature translucent photovoltaic panels, which would provide most of the station’s energy, aligning with Network Rail’s aspirations to be carbon neutral by 2050. Designed to hold a civic purpose, the clock tower is meant to become a meeting place for the locals. The straightforward design of the station is intended to provide an easily replicable project, significa ....
