ZIMBABWE – A VICTORIA FALLS woman was rushed to hospital with an axe still stuck on her head following the fatal strike by her younger brother. The siblings were fighting over money for dipping chemicals which the victim, Henrietta Tshuma (44) of Chisuma village, on the outskirts of the resort city, was supposed to pay. Her brother-turned-attacker Godknows Tshuma (32) is believed to be mentally ill. The two stayed at separate homesteads in Chisuma under Chief Mvuthu. The attempted murder happened on Monday evening. Police have launched a manhunt for Godknows whose whereabouts are not known after he disappeared from the crime scene soon after axing his sister. ....

By Matabeleland North Correspondent VICTORIA FALLS: Zanu PF Hwange district commissar Elias Muzamba’s son was Thursday trampled to death by a female elephant while guarding crops in Masue resettlement area about 10km outside Victoria Falls. The deceased, Ronald Muzamba (30) was in the company of three others when they encountered a female elephant which had a calf as they patrolled around Dunu village at night to protect crops from wild animals. Villagers had mobilised local men to work as rangers and protect the community from attack by wildlife as the area is prone to human-wildlife conflict. On the fateful day, Ronald and his colleagues noticed that part of the electric fence had been damaged and started repairing it. ....
Matabeleland North Correspondent A 57-year-old Binga man struck and killed his 62-year-old uncle with an axe after the two had a misunderstanding over the proposed sale of the former’s beast. According to police, Simati Mefias Mudimba from Chief Pashu area died on the spot from injuries sustained after being struck by his nephew William Sibanga Muzamba. It is alleged that Mudimba had advised Muzamba against selling his beast but to slaughter it for meat. This however did not go down well with Muzamba who is alleged to have armed himself with an axe which he used to strike Mudimba twice on the head causing his death on the spot. ....
