14 private hospitals in Delhi declared Covid care centres: Govt | Delhi News


The government has also directed that all these hospitals declared as fully Covid hospitals will not admit any non-Covid patients till further order.
NEW DELHI: In view of exponential surge of Covid-19 cases in the capital, the health department of the Delhi government has declared as many as 14 big private hospitals as fully Covid care centres on Monday.
The decision came hours after Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal chaired an emergency meeting in view of Covid-19 situation in the capital on Monday.

Delhi records 11,491 COVID-19 cases, highest ever single-day spike so far; 72 deaths
Delhi on Sunday recorded as many as 11,491 fresh coronavirus cases, the sharpest daily spike this year. With this, the tally of COVID-19 cases in the national capital has reached over 7.36 lakh, while the death toll mounted to 11,283. Seventy-two fatalities have been recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Delhi health department. 
This is the first time daily COVID cases have breached the 11,000-mark in the national capital since the start of the pandemic in early 2020.
According to a health bulletin issued by the Delhi government, 92,397 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. ....

DELHI: The fourth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in Delhi is causing high-grade fever, spreading faster and affecting the younger population, especially those in the age group of 30 to 50, more, according to experts.
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has said the fourth wave is more dangerous than the previous ones and according to data available with him, 65 per cent of patients infected this time are below 45 years.
The sudden spike in Covid-19 cases in Delhi over the last few days and across the country has baffled medical experts.
Some doctors said the reason behind a large number of people contracting the infection this year vis-a-vis last year could be that the virus has mutated and the current strain is more infectious. ....

CM Arvind Kejriwal said that Delhi is witnessing the fourth wave of coronavirus and there is a need to speed up the vaccination process.
NEW DELHI: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday ruled out possibilities of a lockdown in the capital in the light of recent surge in coronavirus cases.
The CM, however, said that the Delhi government will implement new restriction soon.
Speaking to reporters outside the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, Kejriwal said, If we are provided with enough vaccine doses, age bar for vaccination is removed and we get approval to open more vaccination centers on a larger scale then we can vaccinate people within 2-3 months in Delhi. Currently, we have vaccines for 7-10 days. There will be no lockdown. New restrictions will be imposed soon. ....

CM Arvind Kejriwal ruled out another lockdown
NEW DELHI: The Delhi government on Saturday prohibited all social, entertainment, cultural and other gatherings, capped the number of people at funerals at 20 and at weddings at 50. The restrictions announced in the Delhi Disaster Management Authority order include a 50% cap on the seating capacity in restaurants, bars, Delhi Metro coaches and buses.
The DDMA also barred spectators in stadia and capped at 50% the seating capacity in cinemas, multiplexes and theatres. All these restrictions are with immediate effect and will remain till April 30.
A negative RT-PCR report (not older than 72 hours) has been made compulsory for anyone flying in from Maharashtra. Passengers without a negative report will have to remain quarantined for 14 days. Constitutional and government functionaries and their staff members are, however, exempted if they are not symptomatic. CM Arvind Kejriwal ruled out another lockdown. ....
