School board candidates disclose taking money from partisan groups

School board candidates in two Racine County school districts have received hundreds of dollars in donations from political parties in nonpartisan elections. New campaign finance reports show that candidates in the Burlington Area School District and the Muskego-Norway School District — which straddles Racine and Waukesha counties — received a combined $3,500 from Republican organizations. The Waukesha County Democratic Party had announced its support for three Muskego-Norway candidates — in response to Republican support for others — but the campaign disclosures show no Democratic dollars flowing into the race. The partisan support in April 6 school board elections included donations from Rebecca PAC, a political-action committee created by former Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, a potential Republican candidate for governor in 2022.

Group still claiming 2020 election was fraudulent takes aim at Mason for coordinating Zuckerbucks | Elections

RACINE — A group which has the support of the Racine County Republican Party has continued to allege that the 2020 presidential election victory of President Joe Biden was fraudulent and is taking aim at the City of Racine. The group is focusing on Mayor Cory Mason in particular, for his aid in bringing what the group calls “Zuckerbucks” — a reference to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg — into Wisconsin. The group of five Racine residents has enlisted a Minneapolis attorney, Erick Kaardal, in filing a complaint with the Wisconsin Elections Commission. Kaardal has filed a similar complaint in Green Bay and said that he is working with potential clients in Kenosha to possibly file one there as well. The attorney said he has filed lawsuits in at least five states — the same states where Trump erroneously claimed he was robbed of 2020 election wins — leading to a federal judge calling for Kaardal to be disciplined over the filing of frivolous lawsuits

Partisanship divides Burlington elections: GOP involved in schools race, some concerned about Patriots group

BURLINGTON — Party politics is creeping into a nonpartisan Burlington political season that is also marked by the emergence of a new group espousing anti-government viewpoints, which has shared videos calling on people to “rebel” and “to preserve our community, our state, our nation and our way of life.” Two candidates for the Burlington Area School District School Board are getting support from the Racine County Republican Party, despite the fact that the nonpartisan nature of the school board is intended to enable the conduct of board business free from party influences. Simultaneously, other candidates on the April 6 ballot for offices in the City of Burlington and Town of Burlington have associated themselves with a new group called Patriots for a United Burlington.
