Karnataka To Set Up Its First Craft Tourism Village In Anegundi Near Hampi

The crafts village is being developed by the Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation (KSHDC) under the aegis of the Union Ministry for Textile with the cooperation of local NGOs.
Anegundi, that is said to be the cradle of the Vijayanagara dynasty, will soon host the first craft tourism village of Karnataka.
The project, which was announced much earlier, will soon be completed and open to tourists by June, say reports.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the India Toy Fair (TITF) 2021, Shri Goyal said that Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi initiated this movement as a part of Aatmanirbhar Bharat to inculcate the true potential of toys and to develop the ecosystem of toys in India.The potential the toy industry holds to help our children evolve in their formative years was recognised by PM, he added. Secretary, Textiles and other senior officers of GoI and State Govts also attended the virtual closing ceremony.

New Delhi, Feb 28 : Guruprasad Mohapatra, Secretary for the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, said that toys are of serious economic concern and a very comprehensive toy master plan has been prepared with various ministries and state governments involved to promote the toy industry.
Speaking at a webinar on Driving Investments to India-Making India the next Global Hub for Manufacturing and Sourcing of Toys , during the India Toy Fair-2021, the official said the government wants to achieve both quality and competitiveness and is exploring what kind of incentives are required by the toy industry, said an official statement

Synopsis Toy manufacturing clusters should be developed by State Governments to attract international players to set up their manufacturing base in India, Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan said. The Secretary also emphasised on the promotion of toy-based tourism, local toy banks and libraries.
Stressing upon India s significant export potential in the toy sector, Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan on Monday highlighted the need to create enabling environment for potential exporters from the segment to improve productivity. Participating in a webinar on Scaling up Toy Exports from India , Wadhawan said the government intends to promote Toy clusters through innovative and creative methods.
