Oman’s Shumookh mulls $10bn refinery, petchem project in Sur 1187205 SHARE Shumookh Investment and Services (SIS), the investment arm of the wholly Omani government-owned Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), says it is exploring plans to establish a world-scale refinery and petrochemicals complex in Sur Industrial City in Oman’s South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The proposed refinery and petrochemical complex is expected to have a processing capacity of 300,000 barrels per day, surpassing that of the 230,000 bpd Duqm Refinery project currently in the early stages of implementation in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Duqm on Oman’s Wusta coast. The cost of the proposed mega venture in Sur is a ballpark $10 billion.

Haejo signs deal for Oman’s artificial coral reef MUSCAT, January 21, 2021 Oman’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MoAFWR) has signed an agreement with Haejo Engineering and Contracting Company for the second stage of the artificial coral reef project in the Wilayat of Sur. The agreement includes designing, manufacturing and unloading artificial reef modules in the Wilayat of Sur, as well as following up the results of their deployment in the marine environment, at a total cost of RO90,000 ($233,000), reported Oman News Agency (ONA). The project is funded by the Oman-India Fertiliser Company. The project is part of the strategic plans to develop the fisheries sector. The ministry aims to enhance fish stocks and biological diversity in the Sultanate s waters in a manner that ensures the sustainability and prosperity of natural fisheries.
