Introduction
In a speech before the Indian Parliament in 2007, then Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe introduced the ‘Confluence of Two Seas’, a precursor to Tokyo’s Indo-Pacific policy framework. It referred to the linking of the Pacific and Indian Oceans to make a ‘Free and Open Indo-Pacific’; Abe named India as an anchor in such a vision.

Bangladesh-India economic ties: Addressing the next generation of challenges

Over the past decade particularly, the Bangladesh-India bilateral economic relationship has entered a new terrain with the strengthening of traditional ties and foundations being laid to deepen and broaden the partnership in going forward. The recent state visit of the Indian prime minster to Bangladesh to join the celebrations of the golden jubilee of Bangladesh s independence and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu, the Father of the Nation marked new initiatives to further strengthen the bilateral ties. The communique issued at the end of the visit states that the ties reflect an all-encompassing bilateral partnership based on equality, trust and understanding that transcends even a strategic partnership . The crash occurred Thursday morning at the intersection of Indian Line and Walpole Road 17.

“OPP investigation, thus far, has determined (a sports utility vehicle) was travelling east on Concession 17 when it was struck by a tanker truck that was travelling south on Indian Line,” Const. Rod Leclair of the Haldimand OPP said in a news release Tuesday. “The collision had caused the SUV to roll over, trapping the occupants inside. The tanker then collided into the ditch.”
Police report the man driving the SUV was seriously injured. A female passenger in the SUV was also hurt but is expected to recover. Both were extricated from their vehicle by Haldimand firefighters. ....
