IIT Kanpur develops touch-sensitive watch for the visually impaired

Two researchers from IIT Kanpur have developed a touch-sensitive, tactile, haptic watch that can help visually impaired people learn what time it is by touching the face. The watch makes up for two of the disadvantages of watches made for the use of visually challenged people: first, the lack of privacy in watches that audibly announce the time and second, the large sizes of touch sensitive watches.
The prototypes were developed by Siddhartha Panda, who is a professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering and the National Centre for Flexible Electronics at IIT Kanpur, and Vishwaraj Srivastava who is a Senior Project Associate at the Centre. ....

In their book, Srikant Sastri and Amitabha Bandyopadhyay describe how the Nocca Robotics team created the lifesaving ventilator in just 90 days
It was late March 2020, and WHO had just declared COVID-19 a global pandemic. India needed ventilators reliable and affordable. In the midst of the lockdown, a group of 20 people came together over Zoom and WhatsApp young techies and seasoned medical professionals, entrepreneurs and academics and pulled off the unimaginable: in just 90 days, the Nocca Robotics team (a start-up incubated at IIT Kanpur) created a world-class, cost-effective, life-saving ventilator, complete with clinical validation. ....

QS Rankings 2021: IIT Bombay among top 50 engineering institutes in world


Highlights
IIT Madras grabbed 30th position in the world for Petroleum Engineering.
IIT- Kharagpur has bagged 101st position followed by IISc Bangalore at 103rd rank, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Roorkee at 107th and 170th ranks, respectively.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) grabbed the 248th position.
New Delhi: 12 Indian institutions have made it to the top 100 in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021. In total, 25 programs made it to the top 100 positions.
These 12 institutions include IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, IISC Banglore, IIM Ahmedabad, JNU, Anna University, University of Delhi, and OP Jindal University.  ....
