Thrivent "Cans" Hunger event helps provide food for those in need

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - The Thrivent Cans Hunger event took place today, July 27, to help provide food to those in the community who are less fortunate.
Thrivent partnered with the From the Heart Food Pantry, Onalaska Emergency Food Basket, and WAFER in order to maximize on donations with greater resources.
Our goal is to collect 3,000 items, and for each item collected, Thrivent is going to give $3, a total of $9,000, to help those neighbors in our community that maybe need a little extra help to have full plates on their dinner table this summer, said Sarah Siefkes, Engagement Leader with Thrivent. ....

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Pantry shelves are filling up thanks to a drive-thru event at Bridgeview Plaza.
The Thrivent Member Network of South Wisconsin partnered with From the Heart Food Pantry, Onalaska Emergency Food Basket and WAFER for the drive.
Thrivent also will donate $3 for every nonperishable food and personal care item collected, up to $9,000.
A new local business, Bucket of Bread, also was at the drive to donate.
“I have a social mission as part of Bucket of Bread to get donated buckets to the hands of pantries,” says owner and founder Chris Wysong. ....

LEWISTON United Way of Androscoggin County, which serves both Androscoggin and Oxford counties, recently wrapped up a successful Day of Giving donation campaign to benefit area food pantries.
The goal of the campaign was to raise $10,000 to help rural food pantries purchase food to help meet the increased needs in the communities they serve. Donations to the campaign were matched with a separate $10,000 gift from the COVID-19 Response Fund.
