Student-athletes impress in the classroom during spring 2021 semester


107 student-athletes with a 4.0 semester GPA
299 student-athletes on Dean’s List (3.5 GPA with 12 credits)
31 teams (of 31 total) with a 3.0 GPA or higher
“Our students collectively continue to amaze me each and every day. The last year and a half has presented one challenge after another, but our students have faced them head on, sought the support they needed and excelled under continuously difficult circumstances,” said Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Sandy Barbour. “To have all 31 teams earn a 3.0 team semester GPA for the third-straight semester is remarkable, especially considering nearly all of our teams’ competitive seasons were during the spring semester. Gov. Tom Wolf and Lawmakers Join Penn State Athletes to Celebrate New NIL Legislation


Gov. Tom Wolf and Pennsylvania lawmakers joined Penn State student-athletes and administrators on Monday at Beaver Stadium to celebrate Pennsylvania’s new name, image and likeness legislation.
Signed into law on June 30, Act 26 amended the Public School Code to allow athletes at any Pennsylvania college to make money from endorsements or business ventures without impacting eligibility, as well as being able to hire agents. A day later, the NCAA implemented overarching legislation allowing athletes to make money from NIL activities consistent with state law.
Together, the legislation and policy change mean new opportunities for student-athletes. Wolf called it a “new chapter” for collegiate athletics. ....
