Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin underlined that “the call for greater understanding and tolerance continues to contribute to the building of a strong foundation of shared responsibility and solidarity, a caring and sharing community”.
He made these comments in his welcoming remarks at the ASEAN High-Level Cultural Forum on Promoting an Adaptive ASEAN Community of Greater Understanding, Tolerance and a Sense of Regional Agendas Among the Peoples of ASEAN on Thursday.

Spreading at least as quickly as the COVID-19 virus, an ‘infodemic’ has infected large swaths of media and information exchange across ASEAN.
Massive amounts of information, including rumours, misinformation and dis-information, have reached millions of people who are hoping to understand how to stay safe until the pandemic has been controlled. High levels of uncertainty are driving people to look for any information about the virus and what to do about it.
Fake news has ranged from misinformation about which tests are needed for proper diagnosis (PCR or antigen) to fear-inducing rumours that motivate people to make the wrong decisions. ....

SPREADING at least as quickly as the Covid-19 virus, an “infodemic” has infected large swaths of media and information exchange across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean). Massive amounts of information, including rumors, mis-information and dis-information have reached millions of people who are hoping to understand how to stay safe until the pandemic has been controlled. Welcome to the latest installment of the
Convivial Society, especially to those of you who are relatively new around here. This is a full newsletter with a longish essay and much else. Also, this time around, I’m not addressing a crisis
de jour, and I hope that comes off as a feature rather than a bug. Over this past year, I have found myself writing about current events a good deal more than usual. This is fine, but I’m glad to return to another mode of reflection, one in which I feel myself more at home. One note about the title: I’d say that this is the question ultimately raised by the essay rather than one it answers definitively. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy it.
