Jason Derulo has joined the team at Bedlam Vodka Derulo’s role in senior management at the company will advance the brand’s “aggressive strategic direction and branding”. Bedlam Vodka is made from long grain rice distilled in Durham, NC. Since being introduced to the brand it has become the singer’s “vodka of choice”. “Teaming up with the executives of such an amazing brand and being able to be an integral part of the marketing team was a no-brainer for me,” Derulo said. ....
The Drinks Business 19 January 2021 By Isabelle Gray Devil’s Botany, London’s first dedicated absinthe distillery, has opened in the east London district of Leyton. The distillery is the brainchild of the owners of East London’s The Last Tuesday Society, the Hackney bar best known for its unique decor and taxidermy collection, as well as its huge collection of absinthe and absinthe-based cocktails. Founders Allison Crawbuck and Rhys Everett are hoping to put absinthe on the map in the UK capital. “Devil’s Botany London Absinthe honours the traditions mastered by the historic absinthe distillers of Switzerland’s Val-de-Travers while introducing a new style of absinthe that is quintessentially British,” co-founder Crawbuck told ....

The Drinks Business 15 January 2021 By Isabelle Gray Half way through Dry January and 10 days into England’s third lockdown, alcohol sales are soaring, with weekly wine sales at Waitrose up by a third. According to The Sun, weekly wine sales at Waitrose are a third up on last year while beer sales have risen by 49%. Spirits in particular seem to be the lockdown drink of choice, with Waitrose reporting a 64% increase in rum sales and a 56% jump in Tequila sales. At other supermarkets, sales of cream liqueurs such as Baileys have doubled. As we reported last week, by 6 January 2.7m Brits had already given up on Dry January. Internet booze sales have also skyrocketed, partly due to people’s efforts to stay home, but also a general trend towards more people drinking than usual. ....
The Drinks Business 13 January 2021 By Isabelle Gray Wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has partnered with Molson Coors to create a non-alcoholic energy drink called Zoa, which is due to go on sale in March. Taking 18 months to develop, Zoa is a caffeinated drink, which Molson Coors says is made from green tea and unroasted coffee beans. In terms of flavour, the energy drink is packed with ingredients such as acerola cherry, turmeric and camu camu, a cherry-like berry native to the Amazon rainforest. This isn’t Johnson’s drinks industry debut – he is also the founder of a small-batch Tequila brand Teremana, which is on track to sell 300,000 nine litre cases in its first year. ....
