The coast is no longer clear if the scheduled January 10 Ohanaeze Ndigbo general election will still hold.
This is as one of the candidates for the post of President General of the organization, Prof Chidi Osuagwu has pulled out if the race, citing likely irregularities in the election.
Another candidate, Dr Chris Asoluka also raised the alarm, expressing concerns over the election.
But the Alaigbo Developmet Foundation, ADF, on Saturday called for outright halt in the processes for the election.
ADF team of officials led by it’s President, Prof Uzodinma Nwala said that if the views of Igbo groups and stakeholders were not respected, it will join forces to chart way forward for Igbo nation. ....

Ohanaeze: Imo election an act in futility, shun exercise - Okwukwu to Ndigbo

A factional Deputy President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dimm Uche Okwukwu had advised Ndigbo against taking part in any election being organized in Imo State in the name of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
This is coming after Okwukwu was elected alongside others at a parallel Ohanaeze election, which was held in Enugu on Saturday, under the Prince Richard Ozobu election committee.
Another election is underway in Imo State, being conducted by the Chief Garri Igariwey committee.
But in a statement he made available to DAILY POST on Sunday, Okwukwu said the tenure of Chief Nnia Nwodo-led executive had expired and that as such, it lacked powers to spearhead an election. ....

As the apex Igbo group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, elects its President-General today, there is a division in its fold as some aspirants pulled out of the race, citing imposition of candidate by the outgoing executive led by Chief John Nwodo.
The days leading to today’s exercise were characterized by crisis following claims by some aspirants that South-East governors imposed Ambassador George Obiozor on them.
Obiozor had emerged as a consensus candidate at Imeobi meeting convened by the Nwodo-led executive, but his emergence was described as unconstitutional by some aspirants, who said he lacked the powers to summon the forum. ....

FEW days to the 2021 elections of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, some leaders and members of the apex Igbo group are divided over the venue, and emergence of Professor George Obiozor as consensus president-general candidate.
At issue is Ohanaeze Ime-Obi’s approval of the application of Imo State to host the election and adoption of Obiozor as consensus candidate by some Imo State stakeholders.
As the state producing the president-general, some leaders said Imo State should not host the election more so as the state government was part of Obiozor’s endorsement.
Speaking on the issues, former presidential candidate and a member of Ohanaeze Ime-Obi, Chief Chekwas Okorie, said Imo could host the election. ....
