Edinburgh-based Alexandra Gilbert found herself stuck in Ukraine for over a month while working on her documentary Welcome to Chernobyl, after lockdown came into effect.
Fortunately, as a result of Ukraine’s own lockdown measures, she was able to return to the accommodation in Kiev that she had been staying in and continue to attend classes online, while also being able to gather some additional drone footage. ....

Several new outdoor artworks are being installed around metro Phoenix this month. Tempe Public Art commissioned Roy Wasson Valle to create a piece on a clear wall at the Tempe Center for the Arts sculpture garden, which will be visible from The Gallery at TCA and the path running along Tempe Town Lake. An installation titled
Water will be on view at Desert Botanical Garden starting on February 23. Created by Natasha Lisitsa and Daniel Schultz of Waterlily Pond Studio, the piece spans 100 feet and was made with materials that include 8,000 colored wooden dowels and 2,000 red flowering blooms. ....

Theater Makes a Move
Arizona Theatre Company, which performs in both Phoenix and Tucson, recently sold its administrative office building in downtown Tucson as part of larger strategy to ensure its long-term viability. Under a new partnership agreement with Tucson Museum of Art, the company’s administrative staff will be headquartered at the museum. In other ATC news, the group has raised over $500,000 to help with its return to live stage productions when public health conditions allow.
Phoenix Art Museum is continuing reduced admission for youth through June 30.
