Weather Authority Alert: Winter weather advisory, winter storm warnings causing slippery road condiitons

As parts of the state are in a winter weather advisory and others are in a winter storm warning, we are in a Weather Authority Alert.
Snow is expected across the state with areas in a winter weather advisory seeing total snow accumulations of one to three inches in the valleys, and four to ten inches in the mountains according to the National Weather Service.
Winds gusts may reach up to 10 miles per hour.Â
The areas in a winter weather advisory include:
Jefferson County, Broadwater County, Meagher County and Gallatin County including the cities of Boulder, Deep Creek Pass, Bozeman Pass, Montana City, Targhee Pass, Whitehall, Winston, Bozeman Apt, West Yellowstone, Martinsdale, Elk Park Pass, Townsend, Boulder Hill, White Sulphur Springs, Toston, Battle Ridge Pass, Homestake Pass, and City of Bozeman. ....

4″ of Fresh Snow Possible Friday Night

Pass level of 5,500 feet around southwest Montana could see up to 4 fresh inches of snow by late Friday night.
Gallatin County, along with several others around southwest Montana, are under a short-lived Winter Weather Advisory until 11pm Friday evening.
The main concern is heavy, wet snow on our mountain passes creating poor visibility situations. Please use extra caution if you must travel. This amount of mountain snow was not expected and the advisory was issued much later in the day than normal.
Heavy, wet snow was falling in Bozeman city limits shortly after 6pm and was starting to accumulate on roadways. Not more than an inch is expected to fall in town. ....
