After amending Article 226 (2) of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service Regulations, authorities have ordered a fresh review of its employees’ performance for retirement after 22 years of service or 48 years of age. In November, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) prematurely retired an orderly named Fayaz Ahmad Siraj after completing 27 years of service on October 14, 2020, making him the first employee to retire under the new law. Alongside the amendment, the Jammu and Kashmir Finance Department had asked the administrative secretaries for carrying out a review of the respective employees’ performance for implementation of the new rule. ....

JAMMU, July 28: Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has set into motion an exercise to convert a portion of historic Mubarak Mandi Complex into Heritage Hotel under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model on Design Develop-Finance-Build-Maintain and Operate basis. Moreover, some other buildings, which are being conserved by utilizing the funds provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, will be converted into State of the Art Museum.
Official sources told EXCELSIOR that decision to convert portion of historic Mubarak Mandi complex into Heritage Hotel was taken by the Governing Body of the Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society several years back but thereafter no further steps were taken. ....

Group of Salina citizens petition to limit City Commission powers

A petition was filed Friday to the Saline County Clerk s Office in response to several actions taken by the Salina City Commission during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The petition was described by Kevin Korb, who filed it in the clerk s office, as an effort to rein in some of the mandates put in place by the commission that the signers feel violated citizens rights.
The petition asked if an ordinance should be put in place that will limit the power of the city commission to impose restrictions on businesses and citizens related to a state of emergency at the county or state level. ....
