U.S. Army Uses Laptop installed with GA-ASI Software to Control Gray Eagle ER UAS Our Bureau 1592 Gray Eagle Extended Range drone General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA ASI) and the U.S. Army conducted the first production Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP) flights of a Gray Eagle Extended Range (GE-ER) Unmanned Aircraft System using GA-ASI Scalable Command & Control (SC2) software installed on an Army-owned laptop computer. SC2 controlled an Army GE-ER aircraft for 3.8 hours and the system successfully completed all test points. “SC2 represents a massive reduction in emplacement, mission launch time and overall footprint size,” said GA-ASI Vice President of Strategic Development J.R. AeroVironment’s Arcturus to Provide VTOL Drones to U.S. Special Ops Command Our Bureau 1477 JUMP VTOL drone Arcturus UAV, wholly-owned by AeroVironment, today won a contract approximately $7 million from the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) to provide JUMP VTOL drones. The competitive task order is for a one-year period of performance, which started February 3, 2021. USSOCOM selected Arcturus UAV as one of six companies qualified for the potential $975 million Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) MEUAS contract in June 2020. The contract enables awardees to compete for site-specific task orders and provide USSOCOM with unmanned aircraft systems services and support for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) operations. ....

Turkey’s Bayraktar TB2 drone hit a target at the longest range to date with smart ammunition in a naval drill held in the Eastern Mediterranean last week. The drone included in Turkey’s Naval Forces Command (DzKK) inventory fired MAM-L laser-guided mini smart ammunition during a Blue Homeland 2021 tactical exercise.
