4/7/21 Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested an Ely man they say was driving while intoxicated with what they describe as a “pile” of empty Fireball shooters in his truck. Officers pulled over a 2004 Ford Ranger without license plates just before 10:30 Tuesday night near the intersection of Ely Road and 120 th Street, just north of the Coralville Reservoir and Lake MacBride. The driver, 20-year-old Denver Haight of Polk Avenue NE, allegedly showed signs of intoxication. Multiple empty shooters of Fireball whiskey were seen in the cup holder, and a mostly-empty case of Busch Light was found inside the cab. Haight allegedly admitted the drinks were his, and that he was underage. ....
