February 26, 2021 Rehoboth sets transportation meeting The Rehoboth Beach Streets and Transportation Committee will meet online at 10 a.m., Monday, March 1. Rehoboth s Cracker Barrel looking to sell alcohol

Rehoboth Beach  Delaware  19971United States Looking to join the hordes of other restaurants serving alcohol locally, Rehoboth Beach’s Cracker Barrel has applied for a liquor license. According to a public notice in the Feb. 9 issue of the Cape Gazette, the restaurant sent an application to Delaware’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Commissioner Feb. 3. The restaurant has applied for a permit allowing beer and wine sales, and for alcohol to be sold on Sundays. Founded in 1969 in Lebanon, Tenn., Cracker Barrel announced at the corporate level in September the chain would begin selling alcohol. The local branch in Rehoboth, 19550 Coastal Highway, opened in January 2002.

February 2, 2021 Giles named new beach patrol captain Rehoboth Beach announced Jan. 28 that Jeffrey Giles, a 30-year veteran of the Delaware State Police, has been named as the new beach patrol captain. Giles, a Delaware native, held several DSP leadership positions, including supervising the maritime and scuba units. He also served on the safety committee for the annual Special Olympics Delaware Lewes Polar Bear Plunge that takes place in Rehoboth Beach. Rehoboth Beach Police Chief Keith Banks said Giles served five summers as a member of the Rehoboth Beach Patrol, including as a lieutenant, before he was with the state police.
