The gunman, Stephen Paddock, was a 64 year old white man living in a retirement village and unknown to the police. The shooting broke out during an open air Music Festival attended by thousands of people. Shortly after 10 00pm local time, hundreds of bullets rained down on the festival goers from the mandalay bay hotel, as paddock opened fire from his room on the 32nd floor.
