VACINATION take up figures VACCINATION success across Barrow has been published and for the first time reveals which areas are getting jabbed quicker than others. The figures released yesterday by the Morecambe Bay clinical commission group, for the first time show which jabs people have been taking. Walney South now leads the way in terms of the percentage of people taking first and second jabs with 90.5 percent of its 4,241-population taking a first jab and 71 percent taking a second. Risedale which has the highest population with 6,543 residents, saw 87 percent of it s population taking the first jab and 67.4 percent going onto take the second dose. ....

Barrow car wash owner frustrated over decision to reject new sign 12/04/2021 A frustrated business owner desperately trying to promote his car wash is making a last-ditch attempt to change decision-makersâ minds. Peter Peel, the owner of the Strand Hand Car Wash in Barrow, wanted to erect a sign to entice customers to the business post-lockdown. But the plans were refused by Barrow Council and a Government appeal to overturn the decision has been dismissed. Mr Peel has now issued an emotional plea for a change of heart to help his business to rebuild. He said: âI have two children and three grandchildren to support along with the livelihood and wellbeing of five full-time employees on site. ....
