Oldham News | Latics | Curle denied first win as Iron leave it late

Latics boss Keith Curle
Oldham Athletic’s new head coach is still in search of his first win at the helm of the Boundary Park club after suffering injury time heartbreak at Scunthorpe United.
All seemed to going to plan for Latics to collect all three points away from home when Alfie McCalmont gave them the lead just three minutes after halftime.
After a first half dominated by the home side, McCalmont fired in his sixth goal of the season through a host of bodies in the penalty areas after the Iron could only half clear a corner.
However that was to be, pretty much, the only highlight for Oldham as Scunthorpe regained control and nearly drew level as Jordan Clarke tried to catch Latics keeper Laurie Walker napping with a stinging shot from just outside the area, but the goalie was able to stand firm. ....

Bobby Burns: My Injury rehab, taking on new challenges and desire to play for NI senior men’s
We caught up with former Northern Ireland U21 and Barrow AFC defender Bobby Burns to discuss his road to recovery, the new skills he has developed during his spell on the side lines and his future footballing goals.
Bobby suffered a double leg break in early November while playing on loan with Glentoran and is currently rehabbing his leg here in Belfast, during lockdown.
How are you and how is your rehab coming along?
I’m not too bad; same as everybody, struggling away during lockdown. Missing doing things and seeing people. In general, rehab is going well. I had my last appointment with my consultant on Friday and he’s was positive that the bone is healing really well. I just have to keep taking it one day at a time and keep progressing. ....

King off the mark as Cherries ease into fourth round of FA Cup

JOSHUA King netted his first goals of the season to help Cherries see off a stubborn Oldham Athletic and progress into the FA Cup fourth round.
The League Two side had the better of the first half and went in level after Dylan Bahamboula’s penalty cancelled out a deflected David Brooks strike.
Cherries improved markedly after the restart, taking the lead through Rodrigo Riquelme before King nodded in, netting for the first time since July, ending a 13-game drought for club and country.
King then struck again in the closing stages to seal a 4-1 victory.
Jason Tindall’s men will find out their next opponents of the competition in Monday’s draw. ....
