Settle close in on titles after Barnoldswick derby day win


A superb 180-run partnership for the second wicket put Settle in command from the start in their Senior League derby match at Barnoldswick.
John Davidson hit sixteen fours and a six, narrowly missing his first century for the club with a score of 94 at a run a ball, a cracking pace for an opener.
He was finally bowed by Jonathan Beech, not before passing 640 runs for the season. Pro Ashen Silva (68) partnered Davidson, striking seven boundaries and a six to claim his third half-ton of the year, himself passing the 600 mark. Overseas Amateur Dante Niles then compounded the hosts’ misery by rattling off 45 runs from 38 balls. ....

Hamish Watson scores hat-trick to fire Team Wellington into national football league final


Hamish Watsons scored a hat-trick as Team Wellington beat Hamilton Wanderers in their national football league semifinal.
Hamish Watson scored a hat-trick as Team Wellington won a rambunctious semifinal against Hamilton Wanderers 4-1 to advance to next Sunday’s national men’s football league final.
The veteran striker opened the scoring on Saturday with a direct free kick in the 12th minute then was on home to tap in a dinked cross from Jack-Henry Sinclair and double his side’s lead in the 36th.
Sam Mason-Smith then put the hosts three goals to the good six minutes into the second spell, before Tommy Semmy pulled one back for the visitors on the hour mark at David Farrington Park. ....
