By Oliver Lees Police are seeking witnesses to a stabbing on a Sunbury-bound train last week. It is alleged a man travelling on a train between Footscray and Sunshine railway stations about 9.15pm on Friday, July 9 was verbally abusive to other passengers before stabbing a 33 -year-old passenger twice. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police believe the man was involved in two other assaults earlier in the night. At 8.45pm a man at a supermarket on Barkly Street in West Footscray was punched. The offender then boarded a bus from Barkly Street and assaulted a passenger before disembarking from the rear door of the bus about 8.50pm. ....

By Oliver Lees Coaches are being organised to replace V/Line trains across the state, as a major power outage in the CBD has severely limited the regional train service. V/Line has advised that it is attempting to “source as many coaches as possible” to replace train services but urged passengers not to use the V/Line service for non-essential travel. Limited train services have recommenced travel to and from Southern Cross Station about 9.30am, V/Line said in a statement. Coaches have been dispatched to run from Kyneton Station to Southern Cross Station and one coach has been dispatched to run from Gisborne Station to Southern Cross Station. ....

Stephen Ryan will accept guests to his Tugurium garden on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 25 from 10am to 4.30pm in collaboration with Open Gardens Victoria. Mr Ryan said opening his one acre garden to the public would help motivate him to keep the space tidy. “I always enjoy having a challenge and a date to work towards, it pushes me to make sure the garden is in good condition,” he said. “People tend to only think about gardens in spring and autumn time, so I want to show them you can have a garden that is beautiful all year round.” ....
By Oliver Lees The average time that properties in Woodend and Gisborne spent on the market was cut by more than two weeks in the year to May, 2021, according to the latest data. Woodend recorded the largest change in the Macedon Ranges with an average of 47 days on the market compared with 64 in the previous year, while Gisborne properties spent an average of 62 days on the market, compared with 78 the year prior. The data released by the Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) indicated these towns were part of a trend across regional Victoria that saw, on average, private property listings snapped-up in the shortest amount of time since 2010. ....
