E-mart will sell its Vietnamese business to THACO
South Korea s largest supermarket chain E-mart is selling its retail store business in Vietnam to THACO Group after hitting road bumps to expand in the market. Accordingly, the local business will be converted to a franchise model managed by THACO, which will pay royalty fees to E-mart.
Since its debut in Vietnam in 2015, E-mart planned to open 10 hypermarkets within five years. At present, the retailer has only one hypermarket in Go Vap district of Ho Chi Minh City. The retailer failed to realise its expansion plans due to challenges in securing liscenses and development sites. ....

Anger in France Over Proposals to Restrict Homeschooling

Paris (CNSNews.com) – Homeschooling families and proponents in France are urging lawmakers to remove a provision targeting the practice that affects some 50,000 children from proposed “anti-separatism” legislation currently being debated in the national parliament.
The provision in question, article 21, seeks to ban homeschooling, making schooling compulsory for all children from three to 16 years-old from the start of the next school year
Exemptions will be allowed for reasons of health, disability, artistic, or sports practice, or for reasons such as homelessness or a home located remotely, too far from a school. But parents seeking exemption will need official authorization, rather than provide a simple declaration to the authorities. ....
