POLICE: IT IS A CRIME TO STAY AWAYOn February 17, city police were busy knocking on doors in Kochi. As many as 279 people are in home quarantine in the city and they had come calling on each one. Their duty: explain the importance of quarantine to relatives and friends of people in isolation, all the while ensuring that Covid-19 suspects are still adhering to restrictions.
This is not just the case in Kochi, the police machinery has actively been mobilised to control the outbreak and cops are planning up to four visits a day to ensure that people in quarantine stick to the health protocol. The cops, from civil officers to deputy superintendents of police, are out in the street wearing masks trying their best to prevent an outbreak. ....

KOCHI: Two prisoners housed in the Covid First-Line Treatment Centre (CFLTC) at the EMS Town Hall, Perumbavoor, escaped in the early hours of Sunday. Vineeth, 22, a native of Edathua, Alappuzha, and Mishel Shafeek, 22, a resident of Thalassery, both accused in several theft cases, fled from the centre by around 3.50am.
