In the latest round, the city on May 20 filed an answer to a historical preservation group seeking to stop the Vance Monument demolition. The group, the Society for the Historical Preservation of the 26th North Carolina Troops, made a motion with the state s second-highest court May 19 saying the removal should wait until a N.C.
