Troopergate: A belated limited hangout on the Arkansas state troopers at the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6
The
Arkansas State Police provided to me at 6:03 p.m. today an additional statement to my continuing questions about the two troopers who participated in the
Trump rally in Washington on June 6 that ended in the deadly insurrection riot at the Capitol.

It confirms, without directly saying so, that Governor Hutchinson’s statement that the troopers did NOT go to the Capitol from the rally was incorrect. Beyond that, not much. The statement:
Two Arkansas State Troopers who were off-duty and on annual leave travelled to Washington D.C. to hear a January 6, 2021 speech by President Donald Trump. The two troopers were interviewed by their supervisory commanders regarding the Washington D.C. trip. Additionally, Colonel Bill Bryant conducted an internal review of their activities.
Gov. Hutchinson on State Police Troopers who attended last week’s Trump rally in DC:
“Col. Bill Bryant conducted an internal review and based upon the review findings, the two troopers in question took personal time off and only attended the Trump rally.” 1/2
“They did not go to the Capitol or see any illegal behavior. If any state employee participated in the riot at the nation’s Capitol then that would be considered a criminal act and dealt with accordingly.” 2/2

Chris May of KATV gets a comment from Governor Hutchinson, which he has refused to give me, on the two state troopers who went to Washington for the pro-Trump rally that turned into an invasion of the Capitol last week and posted Facebook and Twitter comments about being there.
Arkansas State Police remain silent on its troopers in Washington Jan. 6; other police agencies are checking

Corporal Karen Clark, 56, assigned to the highway patrol administration in Little Rock, and
Trooper Alan Aiken, 31, assigned to highway patrol in Lowell, received leave for Jan. 6 and their social media posts (now deleted in both cases), indicate they were in Washington.

State Police have taken the official position that what they do in their spare time is their business and there’s no need to inquire because no allegations of improper actions have been made against the two.
