Coimbatore District Police sources said the man Karthi (47), a resident of Selvapuram in the Coimbatore City Police limits, is believed to have visited a temple near a reserve forest near Narasipuram, Pooluvapatti Forest Range, on Thursday evening, when he was attacked by a lone tusker. He suffered injuries and died on the spot. The body was sent to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for an autopsy on Friday and Alandurai police have registered a case. ....
COIMBATORE: Two people, including a 17-year-old boy, died when a car they were travelling in hit a roadside tree near Perur on the Coimbatore - Siruvani Road on Tuesday night. The deceased have been identified as M Sanjeev Kumar, 20, of Alandurai and his relative, V Anandharaman, 17. The duo were returning home from their relative’s place in Sennur. When they neared a marriage hall, Sanjeev who was driving the car turned his vehicle towards left to prevent it from hitting the median. “The car was overspeeding. Sanjeev could not control the vehicle. The car hit a roadside tree, and both of them sustained serious injuries,” a police officer said. ....
