Pirates kill two Rivers boat passengers, NSCDC denies involvement

Punch Newspapers Sections Published 2 June 2021 Suspected pirates dressed in the uniform of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have killed two persons and injured five others at the Agulu Creek in the Asari Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State. It was gathered that the gunmen, who operated in three 200-horsepower boats, opened fire on the victims around 5pm on Sunday. The Rivers State Command of the NSCDC said in a statement signed by its spokesman, Michael Oguntuase, that its operatives were not involved in the attack. The statement read, “This is to inform the general public that the NSCDC has nothing to do with the said attack on innocent victims around 5pm on May 30, 2021.
