Four days after a reporter with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Port Harcourt Zonal Office, Chidiebere Onyia, was kidnapped, the state Police Command has assured that she would soon be set free. Spokesman of the Command, Nnamdi Omoni, gave the assurance yesterday in a telephone chat with The Guardian while giving updates on the whereabouts of the journalist, who is a breastfeeding mother. Port Harcourt – The Rivers State Commissioner of Information and Communications, Pastor Paulnus Nsirim has said that the state has become a major player in national politics because of the vision and ingenuity of His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike towards rapid infrastructural development of the State. The Information and Communications Commissioner emphasised that State has recorded giant strides under the leadership of Governor Wike and charged the media in the State to shift its focus from the urban to the numerous rural developmental projects executed by the Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike”s administration. The party also expressed lack of confidence in the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) to conduct free, fair and credible local government elections in the state. The Caretaker Chairman of the party, Isaac Abott-Ogbobula, stated yesterday, while addressing reporters in Port Harcourt.
