LAHORE (Dunya News) – The fiscal deficit of Pakistan in six months, ended in December 2020, stood at 2.5% of the GDP as compared to 2.3% in 2019. According to details, the government released amount of Rs 1475 billion under the head of mark-up payments. In the same period last fiscal year, mark-up payments stood at Rs 1281 billion. Amount released for defense expenditure stood at Rs 487 billion in six months, ended in December 2020. During the same period last year, defense expenditure was around Rs 529 billion. ....

The opposition alliance, Pakistan Democratic Alliance (PDM) joint candidate and former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, could get 42 votes despite having a majority in the 100-member Upper House. Seven votes were rejected because they were not stamped correctly, Shah said and added that another vote was rejected as it was cast in favor of both candidates. ....
