The dress rehearsal of
Inner Thoughts, a poetry and music performance at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPac), quickly turned into a sombre affair yesterday evening when its director Joe Hasham broke the news about the implementation of a new movement control order (MCO) in KL from May 7-20.
It left everyone devastated and some even in tears. All that Hasham and Datuk Faridah Merican, co-founders of KLPac, could do was just sit in silence, lost for words.
“We breathed a huge sigh of relief when it was announced that only Selangor would be placed under the MCO. It meant that we could proceed full steam ahead. or so we thought.

At a time when the Malaysian performing arts industry is slowly reopening and picking itself up from a series of unprecedented shutdowns, the introduction of a new theatre space is a bold move, signalling the continued support for the arts here.
The Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPac), a multi-purpose arts venue situated in the 1Utama shopping centre, will officially open its doors to the public on May 25.
PJPac was originally slated for a March opening but it was postponed due to the movement control order being reimplemented in January.
