Council awards contract for Cosgrove 3 Cell 2 construction
Construction works on Cell 2 at Cosgrove 3 Landfill are one step closer to commencement following the awarding of the contract at Tuesday’s Ordinary Council Meeting.
Greater Shepparton City Council awarded the contract to local company Apex Earthworks for construction of Cell 2 at the Cosgrove site. The scope of work undertaken will include site establishment, earthworks, supply and installation of liners and the collection system, and installation of a riser sump.
With the contract awarded, works will now be able to begin on Cell 2 which is needed due to the current landfill cell being forecast to run out of available airspace by February 2022. Works on Cell 2 will be completed before the existing cell is full.

DR Congo Cardinal Laurent Monsengwo Pasinya died Sunday in Paris, France, just five days after being evacuated for urgent medical care. He had been in a critical state.
The 81-year-old was made a cardinal by Pope Benoît XVI at the consistory of November 20, 2010, and participated in the 2013 conclave which elected Pope Francis.
Highly respected, Monsengwo was one of eight prelates chosen by the Pope to support him in reforming the Roman Curia and revising the apostolic constitution Pastor Bonus.
In October 2012, he chaired, alongside Pope Benedict XVI, the last Synod on the New Evangelization organised in Rome, a few days before the opening of the Conclave.
