Ex-Topman MD joins Boohoo Group The former managing director of Topman, Mitch Hughes, has joined Boohoo Group as MD of its Dorothy Perkins, Wallis and Burton brands. Boohoo Group agreed to acquire Arcadia Group’s Burton, Dorothy Perkins, and Wallis brands for £25.2m in February. The fast fashion giant bought all of the ecommerce, digital assets and associated intellectual property rights, including customer data, business information and inventory, of the three brands. Boohoo Group acquired department store Debenhams for £55m in January and said the acquisition of Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Wallis would help support the new Debenhams marketplace. Hughes, who joined Arcadia in 2015 as buying director of Burton, joined Boohoo Group last month. ....
Boohoo will ‘never say never’ to acquiring new brands Boohoo Group is not actively looking to acquire new brands, but will “never say never” if another opportunity arises, co-founder and executive director Carol Kane told Drapers. Boohoo Group acquired Arcadia Group’s Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Wallis brands for £25.2m in February, after acquiring department store Debenhams for £55m in January. During the year, the group also “successfully integrated and relaunched Oasis and Warehouse brands onto its multi-brand platform, after acquiring the online businesses and all associated intellectual property in a £5.25m cash deal with Hilco Capital in June 2020. The Manchester-based business also counts Boohoo, Boohoo Man, PrettyLittleThing, Nasty Gal, MissPap, Karen Millen and Coast among its brand portfolio. ....
Profits and sales soar at Boohoo Group Profit before tax at Boohoo Group grew 35% to £125m in the year to 28 February 2021, despite “Covid-19 cost headwinds and significant investment in acquisitions”. Adjusted EBITDA grew 37%, to £174m, in the period, compared to the year prior. Gross profit rose 42% to £945m. Group revenues rocketed 41% to £1.7bn. This was a result of “strong” revenue growth across all geographies, with the UK up 39% and international up 44%. International revenue is now 46% of total, up from 45% the prior year. Central London has been named as the location with the highest amount of new fashion retail store openings between April 2020 and April 2021, exclusive research compiled for Drapers by Local Data Company shows. Recent store openings in central London include Ralph Lauren s flagship store, and Browns which opened in April. Versace, opened its London flagship store in December. Telford Shopping Centre and McArthurGlen s Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, which opened on 12 April, came in second and third place respectively in a list of the 16 UK locations with the highest new fashion chain store openings. The data does not include the exact number of stores that have opened across the 12-month period. ....
