Key groups outline concerns with major rezoning proposal

The group said that Treasury had already released a statement based on the SEQ Regional Plan that there was already 15 years land supply available within the urban footprint and zoned.
The group questioned the timing of the amendments, given council was currently consulting on its Coastal Hazard Adaptation Strategy and a key Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change report was due to be released documenting latest climate change projections.
The group outlined its thoughts that the report could significantly alter views on suitable planning and zoning for low-lying areas like the Bli Bli land earmarked for rezoning.

A community group fighting to have its say on a controversial coastal bike path fears upcoming consultation on a mass transit solution will pay nothing more than lip service.
Concerns were raised after Sunshine Coast Council awarded a $330,000 tender for the public consultation to Brisbane-based firm Articulous.
Articulous has been tasked with delivering a community engagement strategy for the mass transit business case, which has light rail as the preferred option to run along the coastal fringe.
